This will help us present an accurate picture of your college to the next generation of students.
EOA (End of Announcement)
TIA (Thanks in Advance)
Bits people are too inactive.I never saw them participating in outside fests especially the Pilani ites.Their life is almost frog in the well. They dont know anything about outside world except book knowledge.Being a old university they got reputation. Its just students study due to lack of other activites for them.Professors are good there which is the lonely plus point of the bits.

hi...
ReplyDeleteIt is NIT Calicut and not NIT Kozhikode...
I had mentioned that while I had filled the form last time... pls make the correction...
Thanx
Hello
ReplyDeleteI will tell my friends
why do need to tell people about THESE colleges... i feel people already hear a lot about them... not much of guidance required for the next gen. students on these colleges, we already have enough hoopla and hype for them.. if you really are interested in helping the students of the next gen.
ReplyDeletewhy do you not focus on colleges which are not well known.. where information for the students might be valuable.... i think this is something you yourself have mentioned once in one of your previous posts...
the concept of popularising the already well known institutes does not serve any purpose..
yes you might come up with some excuse for running such comparision.. but apart from getting a few more eyeballs and a few more copies of JAM being sold i really do not think it would serve any decent purpose
aditya
Aditya, if you have seen the survey form you will notice we have featured over 400 colleges from all over India. There are two sets of colleges - a 'national list' and a 'state list'. Both are important.
ReplyDeleteThe work is being completed in phases - and we will appeal from time to time for more respondents from various colleges.
Please give us a chance to publish the book and then you are welcome to critique it. I did promise it would be comprehensive and it will be.
Lastly, there is no 'ranking' being published. I made that quite clear in the very beginning.
hey...you got somebody from NSIT? or you planning to give it a miss...?
ReplyDeletethanks.
Why not NIT Surat?
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely better than many colleges in the list?
And BITS, Pilani is missing too!
ReplyDelete@partha & janani :-
ReplyDeleteThis is not final ranking.
"These are the colleges in JAM's Engineering Survey 'national list' for which we are still seeking responses."
Both , Bitspilani & NIT Surat are there in the list. You can find all the colleges on surveypage.
Here is the link to survey page.

I had volunteered for being a volunteer for NIT-Kozhikode (which has been misspelled, as told above already. ) by dropping in a mail to your mail id, but I guess, it was lost in the huge morass of mails that you daily receive. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is a basic flaw in your engg survey - Whats the incentive for an IITian/top engg. insti guys to take the survey?
ReplyDeleteWhile IITians will not take your survey, the lesser known college guys will pimp in with 5*s!..so make sure that you have atleast 5+ ppl from all colleges, otherwise your survey will be no diff. from stupid surveys by India today etc.
Hi, I am Harish - Passed out from BITS, Pilani - would like to volunteer.
ReplyDelete---------------------------
Now: For the benefit of the unmatched ignorance of Subhash about BITS, Pilani: I wont bother to find out where he graduated from (Surely some chauvenistic, self importance flaunting univ in india!). When you make hollow remarks, try and get your facts right - BITS is a great university, has created illustrious alumni and the pass outs are successful in many wakes of life. About participating in outside fests, BITS's continuous evaluation system does not give an opportunity to students to be away during other cul-acad fests(definitely a negative, but your frog in the well theory is as absurd as a horse with a horn, in contrast its you- who is a frog in the well or pit or whatever for that piece of useless info.). Ever heard of OASIS? Jam mag itself calls it a Mother of All fests - before making an illogical rant, please get your facts straight!

Sorry about the digression in the comments section, i couldnt resist posting.
its really demoralising to see the names of the colleges that u studied and loved so much for isn`t being listed in the top 100 college lists..
ReplyDeleteWell frnds am a pass out of NIT silchar 2002, then known as REC Silchar..suprisingly the name of the college wasn`t even in the top 100..
I guess likewise many NITS have be lift out or ranked below many private colleges..Blame it on the agencies that rank or blame it on the government who fails to rank the institutions according to the merit..
I still remember the rigorous examination and 0 % donations we had to gothru for a seat in a prestigious college..it has now become a mockery of the indian educational system to recognise colleges that give seat under the name of donations in many private colleges.
Only thing I can add is, it is quality that matters and not the quantity..sometimes when the skin is peeled off, u find no talent inside..just a degree doesn`t helps.
The education system in India is to be levelled..colleges being affiliated under AICTE and likewise, the curriculum should be contemporary enough. The teaching methodology of the colleges should also be changed. The authoritarian nature of the teaching faculty should also be looked into..Marking should be made more transparent..
ReplyDeletePlagiarism and lack of respect for other`s work, are common things in India`s educational system..Just search for some topics from the I-net, and paste it on the college works without any reference is really cheating and hardly adds value..and I guess it is always the duty of the teaching staff to incorporate such values.. No doubt one of our professor had published so many papers..
Things are changing fast and similarly the mindset..we were born to a great nation and the education system here has been remarkable all along the history..we are born alike..and the way we grow up shouldn`t make us into categories..we Indian`s are well respected abroad for our hard work and dedication..college`s doesn`t matter..whats matters is the knowldge that increases our faith..
It would be a great idea to let the students of various colleges decide on their ranking themselves by looking into many factors that washington accord had putforth to AICTE`s accredited colleges..let other alumnis come forward...with greater interaction and absence of feeling of superiority of some colleges over others..we can really make India shine...
